Collar, Crocheted Yoke, Record
From Wyndham & Districts Historical Museum: This is an off-white cotton crocheted yoke or dress part, probably made in one piece, with a raised scalloped edge to cover the centre seam. Filet crochet is created with only two stitches: chain and double crochet. It is usually worked from a graph or a symbol diagram, and by creating solid and open meshes the grid-like lace can accommodate various designs, from text to flowers to geometric shapes. This pattern would have been fairly complex in layout as the areas under the sleeve openings are joined and worked as one piece. This item has been used, as evidenced by the the cord at the neckline, but then removed from the garment to be used again.
