Rowan University is a public institution that was founded in 1923. It has a total undergraduate enrollment of 15,264 (fall 2022), its setting is suburban, and the campus size is 920 acres. Rowan University started out as a teacher preparation college and is now a leading research institution for eco-friendly initiatives. Students study a host of subjects, such as whether blood tests can reveal Alzheimer’s and how to improve the safety of lithium-ion batteries. The school also promotes diversity in science, technology, engineering and math. Freshmen and sophomores are required to live on campus unless they can commute from a nearby guardian’s home, and many upperclassmen live off campus. Student athletes can represent the Rowan Profs in the NCAA Division III New Jersey Athletic Conference and intramural sports.
